The Space of Memory

The Space of Memory… Dániel Péter Biró is a world-well-known Hungarian composer and ethnomusicologist who is somehow in Hungary very rarely performed. Transparent Sound would like to change this. We invited Dániel Péter Biró to talk about his very special compositional language and research based on different notated and oral traditions of Torah reading and Qur’an recitation, Gematria – the ancient traditions of making connections between letters and numbers – and new technology. After ten years of work Dániel Péter Biró, who was last year a Radliffe Fellow at the Harvard University, finished his monumental work Mishpatim (Laws). In his lecture he will discuss his flute piece Kivrot Hata’avah (Graves of Craving) and his compositional research.
